We believe a water baptism is a person's way of outwardly (publicly) declaring they intend to follow Jesus. It's an outward expression of an inward change. 

You're not saved by the act of baptism; but instead, baptism is more of symbol and public celebration of your salvation that you receive from choosing to follow Jesus.

Jesus himself demonstrates the importance of publicly declaring your faith when he was baptized in Matthew 28:19-20. 

Baptism shows that we choose to trust and follow Jesus with our lives. We follow His example in obedience.

Being baptized shows the world that you're openly choosing to turn from a life of sin and focus on the only one who can save us (Acts 2:38-41).

If you've decided to accept Jesus as your Lord, baptism is your next step. Anyone who commits his or her life to following Jesus is ready to be baptized (Acts 8:12).

Baptisms in the Bible were by full immersion in water. The original word for baptism most often referred to being immersed or submerged in water. Jesus himself was immersed in water by John the Baptist to publicly declare his faith (Matthew 3:16, Mark 1:10).

Your submersion in water represents your death to sin and old way of life. Then, being raised back out of the water signifies how Jesus is raising you up and giving you a fresh start (Romans 6:3-5).

The short answer is no. Once you've been baptized and publicly declared your faith in Jesus, there is no need or expectation to be baptized again.

However, some Christ followers opt to be baptized a second time to further declare, or reaffirm their intent to continue living for Jesus. This decision is entirely personal.
