Wednesday at Cactus Valley Ranch

What a gift Hope is! God’s Hope is backed by a promise we can trust—that Jesus saved a spot for each of us in eternal life. But let me tell ya, sometimes believing that promise is easier said than done. Doubt comes on the scene like a wild bronco. We gotta keep a tight grip on it, but sometimes it's gonna try and buck us off. Faith in God’s promises is like dusting off our chaps and hoppin’ back on that horse of hope every time.

Stories in the Bible help demonstrate God’s promises for us. The one we looked at today in 1 Samuel 20 is about how Jonathan saving David points us to the hope that Jesus saves us. Jonathan showed his friend David some big-time trust and courage by helpin' him escape King Saul's wrath. It might’ve been easy for David to doubt Jonathan’s motives, especially since King Saul was his dad. But God promised to save David, and Hope is believing God will keep His promises. Now that's the kind of Hope we want our kids to carry with 'em, don't we?

We sure are proud of these young'uns today! They know how to show that Hope is alive and well in their hearts and they want nothin’ more than to keep spreadin' that Hope to others around us. They finished their ranch tasks by securin’ a valuable Bible verse about Hope in their saddlebags:

Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. Ps 25:5

Outreach Today: City Relief

Whoa, Nelly! It was a hot one today and it sure made us thirsty. Luckily, the cantina had plenty of refreshments to spare and the youngsters didn’t stay parched for long. Can you imagine what it might feel like if ya didn’t know when or how yer thirst might be quenched? Today, we talked about how our offerings are used to provide different drinks to our friends through City Relief depending on the weather. Water is always an option, but we also like to delight our neighbors with a tasty treat whenever possible! So the mobile outreach center may serve up some coffee or hot chocolate when it’s chilly and lemonade or iced tea when it’s hot out—like it was today! When we love our neighbors as we love ourselves, our Hope gets refilled every time.

Comin' Up on Thursday

The youngsters wanted us to remind ya that tomorrow is the day for quarters on the outreach post plinko board! We’re also gettin’ gussied up in our finest western attire. And remember—Hope is kinda like passin' the biscuit at supper—once we get that Hope in our belly, we wanna share it with those around us!
