Have you ever felt like you’re floating through life, trying to piece things together as you go? Maybe you’ve asked yourself, What’s my purpose? or Why does my life feel so ordinary?
I’ve been there many times. I have wondered if my daily routines, struggles, and even my passions really matter in the grand scheme of things. The world can make us feel like we need to be doing something massive, something world-changing, for our lives to count. But what if I told you that right where you are, in this exact season, you are already part of something bigger than you can even imagine?
One of the most beautiful and freeing realizations in my life has been understanding that I’m part of God’s story. Not just my own small, sometimes messy, unpredictable story, but His story. The story He has been writing since the beginning of time.
The Bible is filled with people just like you and me, imperfect and sometimes unsure of their purpose. Yet God used them in ways they never expected. Think about Moses, who didn’t think he could lead. Or Esther, who was terrified to step into her calling. Even Peter, who failed over and over, yet Jesus called him the rock on which He would build His church.
Their lives weren’t always grand or glamorous. Many of them had seasons of waiting, of questioning, of feeling unseen. And yet, they were part of God’s bigger plan!
Maybe you’re in a season where you feel unseen. Maybe you’re questioning your direction, your impact or your next step. But can I encourage you? God is already at work in your story. He is weaving together the small moments, the conversations, the lessons, and even the struggles to create something purposeful.
The job you’re in? The people you interact with? The passions burning in your heart? None of it is random. Even the detours and disappointments serve a purpose. Every step, every mundane day, is shaping you for something greater.
We often wait for some big revelation, some undeniable sign from heaven, to confirm that we’re on the right path. But sometimes, the confirmation isn’t a loud voice, it’s a quiet assurance that we have to listen for; a deep knowing that right where you are is exactly where you’re meant to be, and sometimes it is just for now.
So how do you step into this bigger story?
Stay close to the Author: The more time you spend with God, the more you’ll see His fingerprints all over your life. Reading His Word, praying, and even just talking to Him throughout the day changes everything.
Be faithful in the small things: What you’re doing right now matters. Whether it’s loving your family, showing kindness to a coworker, or serving in ways that feel unseen, be reminded that God does see it, and He uses it.
Trust that your story isn’t over: No matter what you’ve been through and no matter how many times you’ve stumbled, God is still writing. Your story doesn’t end with failure, disappointment, or confusion. Trust that He is working in ways you can’t see yet.
You don’t have to have it all figured out to be part of something bigger. You don’t have to wait for a perfect moment to start living with purpose. One of the beautiful things about God’s story is that He doesn’t waste anything, not the pain, not the waiting, not the seasons that feel slow or uncertain.
So today, take a deep breath. Take the pressure off yourself to have all the answers. Remember that the God who has been writing this story since the beginning of time is still holding the pen, and that you, right where you are, are part of something extraordinary.
